SPCA

The SPCA speaks for, protects and cares for animals. The Cape of Good Hope SPCA, is the oldest animal welfare organisation in South Africa. The SPCA, previously a member of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) before it’s dissolution, is a non-profit organisation run by a management team of 104 staff members and volunteers who care for and take in all animals, both domesticated and wild regardless of condition, age, or reason for being at the SPCA, and are on call 24/7 to respond to all animal rescues and emergencies.

I love and care for animals with every fiber in my body. Animals can’t speak for themselves and they feel pain and fear just like we do. It is our duty to treat all living creatures with love, kindness, patience and respect.

PRIDE FACTOR

Pride Factor Speaker/Ambassador:

Pride Factor addresses the problems of unemployment and poverty by introducing young South Africans to the concept of entrepreneurship. Aimed primarily at teenagers, school-leavers and young adults, the programs developed by Pride Factor are conveyed on a broad range of platforms via inspirational speakers who want to pass on their knowledge and motivate the country’s future leaders to generate jobs for themselves and others.

At the same time South Africa offers an exciting range of opportunities in virtually every field of endeavour. At Pride Factor we believe that inspiring and guiding the youth of today how to become entrepreneurs will produce the leaders of tomorrow who will drive job creation and help to alleviate poverty and inequality.

“Education is the Key to resolving so many problems within a country or community. For this reason, I am very passionate about education. Education is everything for an individual and our country! An education can change ones circumstances and ones future. For a country, it can decrease poverty, crime, unemployment etc. knowledge is power, education gives hope.

PENINSULA SCHOOL FEEDING ASSOCIATION ( PSFA )

The Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) is a registered non-profit organisation that addresses hunger in young learners attending primary, secondary and special needs schools as well as Orphaned & Vulnerable Children Centres (OVCs), Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDs) and Further Education and Training Centres (FET’s) in the Western Province. Nutritious cooked meals in the form of breakfast and lunch are currently being provided to over 28 000 young people at 155 institutions throughout the Western Cape. PSFA has to date served over 1.5 billion meals to underprivileged school children.

Over and above the ingredients supplied, PSFA also provides gas stoves, gas bottles, gas when needed, pots, plates, eating spoons and cooking utensils. PSFA empowers and trains members of the community, usually unemployed parents, to prepare and serve meals at each of the schools. Each volunteer is paid a monthly stipend.

“It will only cost you R395 to ensure that a hungry child will receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch while at school for an entire year! So click on the link and sponsor a child! For me education and food go hand in hand. How can a child focus on their schoolwork and learn when all they can think about is their grumbling stomach. Brain-food is essential – you can’t teach a hungry child.”

TEKKIE TAX

Tekkie Tax is an annual fundraising campaign for a large mix of carefully selected welfare organisations, schools and institutions in South Africa. Every year hundreds of thousands of people participate by wearing a sticker and a pair of funky shoelaces in their tekkies and choose a sector close to their heart, which they would like to donate to:

- Animals
- Basic Family Care
- Children
- Disability
- Education

“I am proud to be the celebrity ambassador for the disabilities sector! Something I learnt from the differently abled ladies at Irene Farm village was that there was no jealousy, no self-consciousness, and the girls looked after one another. Those with less severe disabilities would grab a girls hand who was confused and help them with such gentleness. I feel like we need to be more like these ladies”

RIDE4EDUCATION

Ride4Education sponsors children towards receiving an education and aims to improve the facilities which they learn in.
